Vw 1.2 Tsi Injector — Removal

Removing fuel injectors from a VW 1.2 TSI engine is a technical process that primarily requires removing the intake manifold to access the fuel rail. Required Tools

  1. You snap the injector body. The nozzle stays in the head, and you have to drill it out (nightmare scenario).
  2. You damage the threads on the injector, meaning even if you get it out, the new one won't seal.

Installation

  1. Press the injectors into the cylinder head by hand until they seat.
  2. Refit the fuel rail. Tighten the rail bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft-lbs) .
  3. Reconnect the high-pressure line (tighten to 25 Nm).
  4. Reinstall the intake manifold with a new gasket.

Do not use vice grips.

Before starting, ensure the engine is cold. Direct injection systems operate under extremely high pressure; failure to depressurize can result in fuel spraying at high velocity. vw 1.2 tsi injector removal

Part B: Disconnecting the Rail

  1. Remove high-pressure fuel line from the HPFP to the rail (17mm open-end wrench; counter-hold the rail).
  2. Pry the rail upward gently (evenly) to disengage the injectors from the cylinder head bores.
  3. Pull the rail + injectors assembly upward. If an injector remains in the head, stop—do not pull the rail alone.
