Overview

MediaNav Evolution (Generation 2) hardware is built on an older ARM architecture and the Windows CE 6.0 platform. Because this hardware lacks the processing power of modern units, it cannot natively support heavy applications like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. A message will appear asking if you want to update. Accept the installation.

Step D: The Update Process

  1. Insert the USB drive into the car's USB port.
  2. The MediaNav system should detect the USB drive automatically.
  3. Method 1 (Automatic): If the system prompts for an update, confirm it.
  4. Method 2 (Manual/Script): Some Supermods work by rebooting the system and reading scripts from the USB.

    Steps

    1. Format USB as FAT32.
    2. Copy supermod files to USB root.
    3. With ignition on (engine not necessary but battery must be healthy), insert USB into vehicle port.
    4. System automatically detects update → confirm on screen.
    5. Update process (~10-15 minutes): “Update” → “Writing system” → “Rebooting”.
    6. After reboot, perform a factory reset via settings to ensure clean registry.
    • Put the SD card back into the car.
    • Turn the ignition on. The screen should stay black for 10 seconds, then show a "Software Update" progress bar.
    • Do not touch anything. Do not turn off the car. The system will reboot 2 or 3 times. This takes about 10 minutes.
