Through a qualitative analysis of 50 first-person wife-authored narratives from online platforms (e.g., Reddit’s r/Marriage, Medium, and storytelling podcasts like The Moth), this study identifies three dominant romantic storylines: (1) The Rekindling Arc (restoring emotional or physical intimacy after estrangement), (2) The Partnership Evolution (transition from romantic love to companionate or pragmatic teamwork), and (3) The Quiet Defiance (wives asserting autonomy within traditional marriages).
