1. PS Vita Firmware 3.74 – General Review
Firmware 3.74 (sometimes written as 3.74) was released by Sony in late 2019 / early 2020.
It is a minor security update that:
Device Setup Passwords: You must now use a unique "Device Setup Password" instead of your regular PSN password to sign in on the Vita.
Transferring content between a PS3 and PS Vita is no longer supported. Installation Methods Wi-Fi Update: System Update Update Using Wi-Fi Manual Update (PS TV / Safe Mode): Create a folder named on a USB drive. Inside that, create a folder named Save the downloaded PSVUPDAT.PUP file into the by holding the Power button for seven seconds and select Update System Software PlayStation Important Note for Homebrew Users If your Vita is modded, updating directly to 3.74 will remove your custom firmware (CFW)
- H-encore²: The primary jailbreak for firmware 3.74 (called h-encore²) is mature and stable.
- Restoring old Vitas: If you buy a used Vita with corrupted firmware, you need the specific 3.74 PUP file to recover it via Safe Mode.
