That night, the protagonist finds a note slipped under their bedroom door. It’s from Uncle Kun’s private study, written on heavy cream stationery:

She looked happy, but Leo sometimes caught her eye across the table, a silent apology lingering in her gaze as Mr. Kun corrected Leo’s grip on his chopsticks.
