Database Containers (DBC): VFP 9.0 introduced long field names (up to 128 characters) and improved auto-incrementing fields, making database design far more intuitive than in VFP 6.0 or 8.0.
Reporting System (XFRX): The 9.0 report writer is legendary. It allowed output to XML, HTML, Excel, and PDF (with third-party add-ons). For businesses, this was a game-changer.
Data Handling: It can handle millions of records with incredible speed. Even modern SQLite or Access databases struggle to match the raw record-keeping speed of VFP’s Rushmore Technology.
CursorAdapters: This allowed developers to connect VFP front-ends to SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL, bridging legacy desktops with modern back-end servers.
Official Microsoft Status: No Direct Digital Download
First, a critical reality check: Microsoft no longer offers Visual FoxPro 9.0 as a direct digital download from its official website. The software has been retired. You will not find a "Download VFP 9.0" button on Microsoft.com today. The MSDN Subscriber downloads for VFP 9.0 were removed several years ago.
