Tatlises began his recording career in 1970 with the tape Kara Kız/Beni Yakma Gel Güzelim. While he initially sang at weddings and local venues, his commercial breakthrough came in 1977 with the massive success of the album Ayağında Kundura, which propelled him to national fame.
