Limitations and Considerations
3. Display & User Interface
- 6.5” TFT color display (16:9 aspect ratio)
- Resolution: 400×240 pixels (approx.)
- Anti-glare coating
- Split-screen mode (map & route info)
- Day/Night mode (auto-switch with headlights)
- Multilingual menus (including English, German, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Slovak, etc.)
- The burn speed was too fast (re-burn at 2x).
- The disc brand is poor (use Verbatim DVD-R).
- The firmware on your RNS-E might be too old to read newer discs. You may need to update the firmware (Flash CD) before updating the maps.
- The screen will show a progress bar. The system copies the map data to its internal memory (for faster routing).
- Do NOT turn off the car or eject the disc during this process.
3. Why the 2013 Edition is a Benchmark Release
Audi released map updates annually until the RNS-E was phased out around 2011-2012. However, the 2013 version is unique because it was one of the last official updates released by Audi/NAVTEQ (now HERE Technologies) before the focus shifted to the MMI 3G systems. 2. Points of Interest (POI) Relevance
While a 2015 disc would be better, it doesn't exist for this region. The 2013 disc contains Audi dealerships, hotels, and gas stations that remained relevant until roughly 2018. It is the last "usable" vintage map. The burn speed was too fast (re-burn at 2x)
